I felt a pang of sadness seeing the theatres empty like that, but I'm glad to know some will be used for performance space in future, and the building won't be torn down. It was a favourite place to see movies and the mall was also a relaxing, but vibrant, place to shop. The new development sounds like a worthwhile repurposing, so thanks for the update. Loved the old photos!

Thanks for this! I grew up nearby (Westchester) and have lived in Culver City for more than 20 years. On one of the old MGM back lots! This is a great little town.

I get that they will be doing great research at the building now… but my lord it looks horrible. When did COLOR become the enemy? It’s so drab and monochrome. It was so bright and cheerful before. Why must everyone modern be painted like a literal black abyss?

To me, it's so sad that mall life no longer flourishes. Prior to the internet, the mall was the hub for young people all over to socialize, have fun, have a meal, etc. If video killed the radio star, the internet killed youthful socialization.
